What’s Going On. I Know You’re Missing Me

You’ve probably noticed it’s been a while since I’ve posted an article. Actually I have a couple that I’m working on but it’s not like me to post half baked articles for the sake of posting something new. One of the main features of my website are my articles and I don’t take that lightly.

Anyway, the fact that I’m not churning them out regularly is purely because I’ve been busy all year. You may not have noticed too much but the new Forward Multimedia website is really not finished. I have tons to do still, not only to polish what’s already there, but some brand new stuff that sadly, may not make it till another few months. I feel bad about that, but I really can’t squeeze the time.

Given my experience of the last few years, I had resigned myself that 2015 would start off slow, so I decided to take it easy and not push too much work, instead finish up older sites. That didn’t work out for me at all, because this year has been a whirlwind and whirling still.

It’s been across the board too, for both business websites and e-commerce. And speaking of e-commerce, I feel like the oracle, as what I’ve been foretelling is now telling. Everyone and their uncle wants in on the business of e-commerce.

Unfortunately, an online store doesn’t come cheap and some Trini business owners don’t value the time and effort required to deliver a working online store. Fortunately, there are few who do, and since I’m just one person, I can only manage a few at a time, so that’s all fine by me.

I don’t regret promoting the Magento e-commerce platform one bit even though it has been a steep learning curve for me. Boy, it sure is a lot of work and has taken a lot from me. But experience is the best teacher and what I’ve learnt, and still learning, goes to the benefit of both old and new clients.

I’ve done a great deal of homework with regard to a optimal hosting solution for my Magento websites and I’m pleased to announce a breakthrough. I’ll soon make a change to my hosting recommendation to a new hosting company providing Magento optimized servers with some added services. This means no more Dreamhost hosting for Magento.

I’ve forged some new partnerships to bring reliable custom Magento development and technical support to all my clients. These partnerships are both US and India based. I’ve realized that there are instances when US based outsourcing may be better for certain custom work, and not all US companies outsource to India as many may think.

A little bird has told me that a third T&T bank is about to join the TT Dollar payment gateway bandwagon. What have I been saying and braying? You can put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I’ve been working alongside quite a few individuals in my network to bring more value-added services to my clients. That’s because I prefer to focus on what I love which is web design. Soon to be added are photography services and IT, so stay tuned for that or you can ask me about it.

So there you have it, that’s my update. There are so many hours in the day (24 hours to be exact), so it’s a real balancing act. Yes it’s Forward Multimedia, but I’m a person still, I have a wife and two kids and by nature a family man. I love what I do but on my deathbed I won’t regret not spending more time doing web design.
