Forward Articles Make All The Difference
It’s November 2014, and as Trinis would still say, “de year done already”, and really look how it has. This year has been a sustained blur as business has been coming in, again as Trinis say “like that”.
Though the main way I’m found is through Google search, it’s my articles that seal the deal. 95% of phone calls and emails are prefaced by, “I read your articles”…
Anyway, you would have read my news post back in July about the progress of my new website, which I reported as slow— and for good reason too— I couldn’t spare the time to work on it as I was busy on clients’ projects. I saw that there was no way I could ever get it ready this year, so…get ready for it for the new year!
Key features of new website
I’m not going to reveal all right now, but suffice it to say, I’m using a template that’s more reflective (and better example) of modern features available. In fact, many features I’ve been using all year on clients’ sites are not available for mine. That’s how fluid the web world is.
Better article management coming
One of my big areas is the keep my articles front and center and easier to access with a more magazine styled format but more importantly, more precise showcasing; one example is the use of an article ‘carousel’ to scroll 3 new article blurbs on clicking the arrow.
In addition to the social sharing buttons, I’ll be using a ‘number of reads’ counter to display the article’s popularity right there.
I’m also going to make it easier to comment, as Trini’s are very particular of when and where they comment, and though I get hundreds of reads, it seems that people don’t want to create usernames to do so.
From boxed style to Full Width
Gone will be this boxed style with the page background. Full width is it right now, though there may still be sites that may be suited to ‘box’. It’s a matter of personal preference though.
Layer Slider with animated transitions
I’m going to take the time to make good of the popular feature of homepage sliders called ‘layers’. That’s when all elements appear one by one over the background, and there are many fancy transitions to impress.
Look and feel elements of old site
To have a smooth transition I’m trying to maintain some elements for consistency. Eventually I’ll tweak the hell out of it and make use of all features that will make it totally different from the present site.
Conclusion
That’s it for this update. There are some other goodies especially for my clients given my solid ranking on Google that can be extended to their sites. That’s just one goodie from a whole ‘bag’ mind you!
I’m writing some more articles for you this November so stay tuned. While you’re at it, sign up for my newsletter.
