Resistance is futile! Business Owner- Create a Facebook Page NOW
It’s either lead, follow or get out of the way! Face it, Trini’s love Facebook and have engaged it overwhelmingly. While I continue to trumpet the cause that all businesses absolutely NEED a website, then in lieu of one (and only in the meantime) you should create a Facebook business page for your company and don’t walk- run!
Now is not the time for ‘old school’. Now is the time for both old and new school working in tandem to execute your marketing plan, er- you have a marketing plan right? Sigh…Resistance is futile! Business Owner- Create a Marketing Plan NOW…well if you’re winging it, something is better than nothing so still create that Facebook page for your business. You get an online presence and it’s the next best thing to having a website.
What are the advantages of a Facebook page for our T&T businesses? Here are a few and I’m not regurgitating these advantages from Google, these are my first hand observations:
- It shows your business is current with the times
- It gives you an online presence for free
- You can get statistics (via Facebook Insights) into your user base to better target your marketing
- You increase your visibility on others’ walls and pique interest
- You meet and interact with your customers first hand and build goodwill and referrals
- You find other pages and businesses which you may not have otherwise found which may be benefit you by way of becoming customers or suppliers
- You meet very nice people in general and expand your network (yes there are very nice Trinis out there)
Let me be clear though, Facebook Pages do not replace a website but should complement it with each driving traffic both ways. While the number of Trinis using Facebook is ever growing, there are those who are not yet users so you have to reach them some other way. Which is why you need that pesky marketing plan!
If you want to create your own Facebook Page for business, here is the link: Create Facebook Page for Business. Please note that it’s against Facebook policy to use personal profiles for business. Those who have created a separate profile for their business where pages cannot be ‘Liked’ but have to ‘Add as a friend’ to join is a violation of Facebook’s terms. If you are doing this, my advice is to create your page now and encourage your fans to transition over to the new page. It may take some time but it’s the only option. Just remember that these pages are designed for business promotion so they’re much better than using personal profiles. For example, you can add custom tabs, a welcome page and more.
So don’t delay, do it today. It’s the best thing since hops bread!
